100 W Linear Amplifier for HF bands     Last update 2012-08-19
JUMA PA100 with analog control

Overview

JUMA PA100 is a small size true 100 W linear amplifier for all amateur HF bands. The amplifier is available as a component kit. There are two models available, the PA100 with analog user interface and the PA100-D with digital user interface.

The JUMA PA100 amplifier can be used with any low power transceiver or transmitter with output power range of 2.5W...10W.

The size of the JUMA PA100 is compact and it is equipped with a fan in the heatsink. The fan is typically OFF during normal QSOs and it starts only when needed. The fan is very quiet.

Connectivity
The DC supply connector in the rear panel is a standard DC socket used widely in Yaesu, Kenwood and Icom rigs.

The exciter RF connector (TRX) and antenna RF connectors (ANT) are BNC type sockets.

The transmit/receive (T/R) switching needs no cables when using the JUMA PA100 with JUMA rigs e.g. JUMA TRX2. A small DC signal in the coaxial cable between JUMA exciter and the PA100 is used for transmit/receive switching. With other exciters a cable with a 3.5 mm jack plug is used for T/R switching. See wiring.

The digital model PA100-D includes two additional connectors in the rear panel. A jack type
RS232 connector for auto band tracking with JUMA TRX2. The RS232 connector is also used to upgrade PA100 firmware. The other additional jack connector is a Yaesu standard DC band control input. See wiring here.

Construction
The construction is modular.
The modules are:
- RF Amplifier Module
- Main Board Module
- Analog Control Module
- Digital Control Module
- Frequency Sense module

All the interconnection are using flat cables. See the drawings.
